Safeguarding our young people

Safeguarding children and young people is everyone’s responsibility and at Orewa Surf Life Saving Club it is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and positive environment where every child involved in surf lifesaving feels valued, protected, and empowered.

Any concerns or disclosures that a child or young person may have been harmed or abused will be taken seriously and dealt with sensitively, promptly and kept strictly confidential. If a concern is raised our Child Protection Officer will listen, acknowledge it, and refer it to one of the SLSNZ National Children Protection Officers, Oranga Tamariki, or the Police where there is an immediate safety concern.
